April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month: Stand with Survivors in Fort Bend County

Every April, communities across the country come together to raise awareness about sexual assault, honor survivors, and commit to ending sexual violence. At Fort Bend Women’s Center, Sexual Assault Awareness Month is more than just a campaign—it's a powerful opportunity to amplify voices, educate our neighbors, and strengthen the safety net for those affected.

Our mission is to empower survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence so they can survive, revive, and thrive. From the moment someone calls our 24/7 crisis hotline (281-342-HELP), they are met with compassion, expertise, and resources designed to support them through every stage of healing.

Why Awareness Matters

Sexual assault impacts people of every age, race, gender, and background—but it often happens in silence. Awareness Month shines a light on the realities survivors face, breaks down stigma, and reminds survivors they are not alone. It’s also a time to educate our community about prevention and the importance of early intervention.

At Fort Bend Women’s Center, we offer a full range of critical services designed to support survivors at every stage of their journey. These include emergency shelter and safety planning, crisis counseling and therapy, advocacy and legal support, support groups and case management, as well as long-term housing and job readiness programs. These services are free of charge, but they’re only possible with the support of our community.
